Self-Growth Sunday: Book Lover’s Bliss

Hey loves! I did a poll on my Instagram yesterday asking you guys whether you would be interested in a weekly series on the blog about self-growth. The majority of you voted yes and I figured we could call it Self-Growth Sunday for now! 🙂

Self-growth takes very many forms, one of them being books. As promised in my Taking Stock Post, I have ah-mazing news for all the book lovers and all the people who ask where I get my books from! 🙂

One of my goals at the beginning of the year was to read 2 books a month. I am a pretty fast reader and my main challenge was that purchasing new books all the time was rather costly. My mom, who happens to be the biggest book drunkard I know, used to be a member of this book-club called Book Villa. This was way back before street vendors started selling books at throw-away prices. So we set out to find a similar local membership book club but we had a real struggle finding one. That peril was solved about 2 months ago when one of my mom’s colleagues stumbled upon the BookLoversBliss site.

It is basically an e-library where you get to rent or buy books and have them delivered to you. It is really simple to join. All you have to do is register, pay an annual membership fee of Ksh.1,000 or Ksh.500 for students and you can start renting. Each book has it’s own rental price but most books range between Ksh. 200-300, except from African Authored books that start from about Ksh.450. You can borrow up to 2 books at a go and can stay with the book for the maximum period of a month. My book budget has now gone down to roughly Ksh.1,000 a month for 3 books, unless I stumble upon one that I would like to purchase.

In case you do not find the book you are looking for on their site, you can give them a call and find out if they can get it for you, making them very reliable since they are a one-stop book shop for both renting and buying. They normally do free delivery within the CBD on Thursday and Friday. They also do out-of-town deliveries at an extra cost.

The main thing that drew me to their site is that they have a wide array of books, including the Sylvia Day series, which happens to be one of my faves. A friend (who doesn’t even like books) introduced me to the series but only had access to the first 2 books. The site has the whole series of 5 books that are available for both renting and purchasing. Ever since I discovered their site, I have honestly been so consistent with my 2 books a month goal, sometimes even surpassing it and reading 3 books.

I hope that you do check them out and if you do, let them know that I sent you! Wishing you all a blissful Sunday loves! 🙂

Blessings & Blessings! 🙂
