A Letter to my Younger Self

Hey loves! I hope April has been good to all of you! What have you been up to? It was my birthday just over 2 weeks ago and I am so grateful to my friends and family for making this year’s birthday month extra special.

During the beginning of the year, a friend and I sent each others letters we would write to our younger selves. So we will be getting up-close and personal in today’s post and I hope it is something relatable or helpful to someone! Do grab a glass of some good ol’ red wine and enjoy, it is, after all, a weekend!

Dear Self,

How you doing girl! First of all, “you’re so preeeety! (insert Terrol’s voice)”. So don’t worry too much about not fitting into that dress you bought or about shedding all that unwanted fat, it will all be history in due time. Also, stop spending your energy worrying so much about who likes you and who doesn’t. Just love yourself darling, and work on getting better every single day.

Be a self-propelled person fueled from within: appreciate the opinion of others without getting attached to them because if you give them the power to feed you, you also give them the power to starve you.

Baby girl, there is no need in wasting your time comparing your journey to those of others because every flower blooms at a different pace. Let me warn you, many people will be insecure and intimidated by your ambition and your achievements. They will try and make you insecure too, but don’t waste your energy focusing on that, after all, what you focus on, you manifest more of. Beautiful girl, I am so so proud of you! Proud of the places you have been, the work you have done, the lives you have touched, the love you have shared and the person you have slowly but surely become. I admire how fearless you have become in the pursuit of your dreams,  not letting the discouragement of others deter you. You have learnt how to make prayer a lifestyle and have stopped the habit of praying only when it is convenient for you. You still yearn to learn and grow, so be keen ’cause every experience comes with a lesson! You will meet so many amazing people in your journey, most of whom are still in your life today and they love you, unconditionally, 1000 words per second flaws and all! You are so blessed, so so blessed! You have had opportunities before you that you could not even have began to imagine and you have such a strong support system behind you that you shouldn’t take for granted. So dear self, keep your head up and maintain that smile on your face and that fire in your heart. Keep living by faith, keep choosing happiness and keep doing your best, they will take you places! I am so humbled to see how far you have come and can only imagine how far you will go. Focus on the things that matter, live in the moment, be kind to others, practice gratitude and share your truth. There are days when you will be under the weather and your spirit will be low, so a little reminder from me honey, for those rainy days:

Now we, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise. -Galatians 4:28

Blessings & Love,
